Gifts by South Carolina Baptist churches to the South Carolina Baptist Convention Empowering Kingdom Growth budget exceeded the budget goal of $32,150,000 by $43,209. This is the second year in a row that the convention has met and exceeded the budget goal.
Cooperative Program gifts totaled $31,868,531 and exceeded the Cooperative Program goal of $31,825,000 by $43,531. The funds received beyond the budget goal were allocated in a 13th check. The Southern Baptist Convention received $17,412 or 40 percent of the overage. South Carolina Baptist Ministries for the Aging received $1,807.
The presidents of South Carolina Baptist institutions, with the exception of Ministries for the Aging, requested that all overage funds for the institutions be placed in the new Kingdom Challenge Fund. A final 13th check representing the overage for the institutions, Woman’s Missionary Union, and the work of the Executive Board was written for $24,312 and deposited to the Kingdom Challenge Fund.
Designated gifts received by the convention increased $2,221,637 to a new total of $3,469,886. South Carolina Baptists gave generously for disaster relief, providing $1,828,653 for Hurricane Katrina and $14,591 for Hurricane Rita.
Total gifts received by the South Carolina Baptist Convention for all mission causes exceeded $50 million in 2005.
The 2006 South Carolina Baptist Convention budget goal is $32,150,000, which is unchanged from 2005.
