The Tabernacle Experience, which features a full-sized replica of the Tabernacle of Moses, is coming to the Upstate.
Kent Smith, pastor of River Hills Baptist Church in Moore, is partnering with Rabbi Andy Meyerson of Beth Shiloh Messianic Synagogue, which has congregations in Spartanburg and Asheville, to provide the interactive experience.
From Sept. 15-21, the exhibit will be open to guests at River Hills Church at 5762 Reidville Road, Moore.
The Tabernacle was the central place of worship for the children of Israel from the time they were delivered out of slavery in Egypt, through the wanderings in the wilderness, during the conquest of Canaan, throughout the history of the Judges, and through the reign of King Saul and King David – a total period of about 500 years.
The replica of the portable sanctuary remains true to the precise size and layout of the original Tabernacle constructed under the direction of Moses. Visitors will take a self-guided narrated tour, learning at each station about the tent that housed the Ark of the Covenant 3,000 years ago as described in detail in the book of Exodus.
Visitors are welcome Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. A donation of $5 per adult or $3 per student is requested. Groups of 10 or more may schedule an appointment at other times by calling 864-433-0927 or 864-205-1648.
