The Office of Public Policy is looking forward to improved methods for keeping churches informed on the issues that matter most to Christians in today’s culture.

Thanks to a gracious ministry gift given by Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company, the Office of Public Policy will be embarking on new web-based media conveying the message of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The goal of these efforts will be to revamp our media resources to more effectively and efficiently serve our churches and educate them on the growing number of social and moral issues that face our society. The new initiative aims to create a Christ-centered culture, engaging more Christians by keeping them abreast of current issues as they take shape in the halls of government at the local, state and federal levels. There is no task too large for God, and this project is one step that we feel can better empower our members to be salt of the earth and light of the world so that good policies can impact the world for God’s kingdom.
Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company president and CEO Rob Bates and marketing manager Matt Quinton were on hand at the Christian Life and Public Affairs Committee meeting in August to present the check for the committee’s work. Mr. Bates said, “We are just so pleased to be a part of this, and we hope we can continue to find ways, big and small, to serve Baptist churches.”
I know that God has great plans for this new ministry opportunity and I look forward to seeing them laid out for us. In the meantime, be sure to contact the Office of Public Policy if we may ever serve as a resource to you or your church.
