Earle Street Baptist Church dedicates education/office building

Earle Street Baptist Church in Greenville dedicated a three-story education and office wing July 22. The 14,000-square-foot building offers additional classrooms, conference rooms and office space. A highlight of the new space includes a hallway leading to the worship center that displays, through a timeline of photos and documents, the history of the 96-year-old congregation.

Broad River, Blacksburg, celebrates centennial Sept. 9

Broad River Baptist Church in Blacksburg will celebrate its 100th anniversary Sept. 9. The church grew out of impromptu outdoor prayer meetings under a large oak tree in the mill village in the early 1900s. Former pastor Howard Allen will speak at a 10:30 a.m. special service.
