Letter to the Editor: Good Men Who Do Nothing

The church, for the most part, gives little more than a passing thought to persecution. It is something from the distant past that we read about in “Fox’s Book of Martyrs.” However, the reality is that people in the Christian church are being imprisoned, tortured and even dying for their faith.

We have failed to remember ten Boom, Schindler, Zabinski, Winton, Bonhoeffer and others. Because we have failed to remember, we are complacent and thus stand guilty. The church today faces the self-same persecution, yet we are silent. Silence kills; while good men do nothing, the people die.
Dr. Frank Page recently said in a sermon, “We have to get on the ball or die.” There has never been a plainer call to action. I would say to you that the converse is also true: our refusal to “get on the ball” will cause others to die.

My prayer is for God’s direction and guidance. I must do something, yet I don’t know what that looks like. My prayer for you is that Jesus will speak to your hearts … that if you do know Him, you will stand up and be counted.
