S.C. Baptist universities announce record enrollments

The three universities with historical ties to the South Carolina Baptist Convention all report record-high enrollments for the fall semester, with more than 9,000 students enrolled.

The largest freshman class in Anderson University history — 657 students — moved into campus housing Aug. 16. School officials expect total enrollment this semester to top out at nearly 3,200.

Charleston Southern University kicked off its 50th anniversary year with a record enrollment of more than 3,400 students. Officials say they hope to serve 4,000 students annually by 2020.

At North Greenville University, total enrollment for the fall semester is 2,603, which includes 769 new students. More than 1,500 students live in residence halls at the Tigerville campus.
