Carrol Caldwell, pastor of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, Union, for 15 years, was surprised with a Toyota truck on pastor appreciation day. Caldwell averages about 400 miles a week in his travels, and his current truck had 330,000 miles on it.
Frank Thomas, pastor of Harris Baptist Church, Greenwood, and his wife, Debbie, were recognized for 40 years of service. Thomas has baptized 718 people, and the church has donated over $2.3 million to missions. They were surprised with a cruise to Alaska.

Nathan Sweet, a Greer native who later lived in Lugoff, recently received his Ph.D. in Christian leadership from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Sweet is student pastor at Wake Cross Roads Church in Raleigh, N.C. His father, Greg Sweet, is pastor of Spear’s Creek Baptist Church in Elgin.
