Spring Branch Baptist Church, Hartsville, honored its musicians with a plaque and a monetary gift of appreciation on July 12. Doris Atkinson has served as pianist for more than 40 years, and Judy Russell has been organist for more than 20 years. Marie Gardner was also recognized for her recent service as interim pianist during Doris Atkinson’s absence due to health issues.
Spring Branch Baptist Church in Hartsville honored pastor Buddy Amerson and his wife, Betty, for 38 years of service on July 5. Chalk-art evangelist Dan Gardner was guest speaker. The congregation presented a plaque and monetary gift to the Amersons for their dedicated service.
Paul A. Villano, associate pastor of Little River Baptist Church, Jenkinsville, earned a master of divinity degree from Liberty University on May 9. Villano, who specializes in disability ministries, is also a graduate of Summit University in Pennsylvania. He works as knowledge management officer for the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School in Fort Jackson.
For the second consecutive year, Goucher Baptist Church Vacation Bible School participants raised more than $2,000 to help build two wells in impoverished countries through the Samaritan’s Purse clean water project Turn On the Tap. The VBS students enjoyed “journeying off the map” to explore the living water of Jesus Christ.
