Kauffmanns retire from Connie Maxwell Baptist Church

Doug and Sally Kauffmann have retired from their respective roles as pastor and minister of music and education at Connie Maxwell Baptist Church.

The Kauffmanns have served the church, located on the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home campus in Greenwood, since 1996.

“Doug and Sally Kauffmann have been synonymous with Connie Maxwell for the past 20 years,” said the children’s home president, Randy Harling. “They have truly modeled servant leadership. As ‘doers of the Word,’ Doug and Sally have pastored hundreds of children with great sacrifice, joy and humility.”

Doug is the fourth pastor in the church’s 104-year history. Serving as pastor has been “the highlight of the ministry that my wife, Sally, and I have shared together for the last 40 years,” he said.

Sally said the couple’s two decades of service at Connie Maxwell have brought “blessings of opportunities.”

“I thank God that our two daughters [Christina and Anna] grew up and worked with us here and that it offered such a formative community for them, as they both serve in social work today,” she said.

A recognition service for the Kauffmanns was held Jan. 24.
